Trade Deadline 2017: Calgary Flames

With the Trade Deadline in a couple days we look at what the Flames should or shouldn't do.

Forwards: The Flames could use a top winger to play with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. Some potential rental players include:
Thomas Vanek
Radim Vrbata
Patrick Sharp
Brandon Pirri
PA Parenteau
Alex Burrows
The Arizona Coyotes have said that they were testing the market with forward Anthony Duclair. Duclair had an impressive season last year, posting 44 points in 81 games. Duclair is currently playing with the Coyotes affiliate team, the Tucson Roadrunners. Duclair could make a good fit in the Flames lineup, possibly play alongside Sam Bennett.

Defencemen: In the past week or so, the Flames have made changes to their blue line, including signing Matt Bartkowski to a 2 year 2 way deal. They also acquired Michael Stone from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 3rd round pick and Conditional 5th. With these 2 additions the Flames now have a few spare defenceman which they could sell off including Dennis Wideman and Jyrki Jokipakka. Dennis Wideman would need to waive his NMC before but they could possibly trade these players for draft picks or rentals.

Goalies: The Flames Goaltending has been inconsistent for a large part of this season, but in the past month and half or two months Brian Elliott has started to play like the Goalie we thought we were getting at the draft. With Ben Bishop just being dealt to the Los Angeles Kings I would see no reason for the Flames to change Goalies at the deadline.
